Leever Cancer Center Publishes Cookbook

   The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center is now selling their 10th anniversary cookbook. All proceeds will benefit the survivor programs at Harold Leever. Books are $15.00 (cash or check) and are available at HLRCC, Bunker Hill Pharmacy, Elizabeth Richards (Chase Parkway), Frugal Finds (Watertown), Lourdes in Litchfield, Mike & Ike’s Gas Station, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Bingo,  Walsh’s IGA (Meriden Rd.Wolcott, Waterbury Hospital Gift shop,and La Bonne’s in Watertown. Health and Wellness Fair January 21

The Waterbury Youth Health Service Corps is hosting a community “Health and Wellness Fair” run by the High School members of the YHSC. Volunteers from the Stone Academy will also be contributing services. This fair is geared toward the youth of Waterbury and is free for all. There will be games, prizes and health information for all who come. The event will take place Monday, January 21, 2013 at Waterbury Baptist Ministries located on 222 West Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06702. The fair will run from 2:30-4:00 pm.

Granville Academy Event January 8th

   The Granville Academy of Waterbury is hosting an event on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 to expose youth to the world of physics.  Guest speaker, Bryan Kent Wallace, Director of Physics Laboratories at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee will share his experience in the field of science including a question and answer session. Tip-A-Cop Fundraiser At Chili's Dec. 13th

   The Police Activity League of Waterbury, Inc. and the Waterbury Police Department is holding a Tip-A-Cop event on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Chili’s of Waterbury from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Chili’s is located in the Brass Mill Commons at 205 Union St.  Officers will be on hand to help serve the public and to educate patrons about the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.  Patrons are asked to “Tip a Cop” as a donation to Special Olympics Connecticut.  For more information please call Lieutenant Daniel Lauer at 203-346-3971 .

250 Volunteers Participate in Fulton Park Clean-up

The Annual Fulton Park Fall Clean-Up was held on October 20-21 from 11:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M. both days. Two Hundred and fifty-five volunteers worked for 4 hours each day to clear brush and overgrowth from the last 50 years. The volunteers came from the Yeshiva, the Church of Latter Day Saints, the Young Marines, the Waterbury Americare, the community clubs which surround Fulton Park and residents of Overlook, Upper Fulton, Crown-Brook, Hillside and Willow-Plaza. Private companies, like Cotter Construction and Landscaping, LLC also volunteered their equipment and workers. The Fulton Park employees were there to hall the brush away. PAL provided the work gloves. All did a magnificent job. All worked The clean-up is hosted by the Historic Overlook Community Club. HOCC provided lunch to the volunteers.

New Opportunities Needs Truck And Driver

    New Opportunities, Inc. is in need of a truck and driver for approximately 1 - 1.5 hours on Wednesdays, to voluntarily pick up 2-3 pallets of pet food from Bozzuto’s in Cheshire and deliver it to NOI headquarters in Waterbury. Many of the homebound seniors who depend on the nutritious meals provided by Meals on Wheels have household pets dependent on pet food from Bozzuto’s. In an effort to keep these pets well-nourished, Animeals, a pet food delivery service launched by New Opportunities, Inc.
