Health Care Council's Ceremony, June 20

The Waterbury Regional Chamber’s Health Care Council (HCC) will hold their 7th Annual Members’ Breakfast and Awards Ceremony Wednesday, June 20 at 8:00 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Southbury. The ongoing ambition of the Health Care Council is to recognize excellence in health care provided throughout the Greater Waterbury region on an ongoing basis. Toward that goal, they hold their Annual Members’ Breakfast and Awards Ceremony as well as periodic “Out for Health” networking events with leaders in the healthcare and related fields; educational breakfast seminars to discuss important healthcare industry topics; and publish their bi-annual supplement, “Health Matters” which is inserted in the Waterbury “Republican-American” newspaper reaching a target audience of over 60,000 readers in the Greater Waterbury region.


The 2011-2012 Waterbury Regional Chamber’s Health Care Council awards for exceptional individuals and organizations will be presented as follows: The Leadership Award will go to the Malta House of Care’s Michael Culhane, executive director and Dr. Paul Kelly; The Stephen Sasala Health Advocate Award will go to Los Angeles Clipper’s Ryan Games founder of Hoops for Heart Health; The Unsung Hero Award will be presented to Dr. Jo-anne Cosgriff, medical director of Waterbury Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit;and The Access Rehab Centers will receive the HCC’s 2012Organizational Excellence Award.


“Each year,” explained Robin Sills of Naugatuck Valley Radiology and chair of the 2011-2012 Waterbury Regional Chamber HCC, “we celebrate individuals and organizations within the Greater Waterbury Region that have made outstanding contributions to our region’s health and wellness. It is our privilege, and honor, every year to recognize their notable contributions to our overall community at this annual meeting in recognition of their achievements and ambitions.” 


Saint Mary’s Health System is the platinum sponsor of the Waterbury Regional Chamber’s 2012 Health Care Council’s Annual Members’ Breakfast and Awards Ceremony. Gold sponsors are Carmody & Torrance LLP; The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center; The Hearth at Southbury; Naugatuck Valley Radiology and Waterbury Hospital.
