Get your hands dirty, and join in the fun with the Mattatuck Museum’s summer art classes for kids. Early childhood, when imaginations and creativity know no bounds, is an ideal time for children to start learning about art. They see and invent stories, and delight in its color.

The museum is offering classes to fit your child’s ability level and age. Art Tells A Story, for ages 4-6, will run on Tuesdays from June 26th – July 24, 2012, 10:00am-Noon. Youngsters will look at, discuss, and create art about their pets, favorite places, stories and fantasies. Students will learn to express themselves by learning art and language skills with museum teachers. Parents, grandparents, and caregivers are welcome.

Exploring Art, for ages 7-9, will run on Wednesdays from June 27th - August 1, 2012, 10:00am-Noon. Students will explore and experiment with a variety of media including collage, drawing, painting and sculpture as they learn new skills of composition, balance, scale and proportion. Classes will be taught by museum teachers. There will be no class on Wednesday, July 4th.

Enrich your child’s life with the arts! Each program is new and exciting, and there is no requirement to attend them all. The Mattatuck Museum is operated with support from the Department of Economic and Community Development/Connecticut Office of the Arts, and is a member of the Connecticut Art Trail, sixteen world-class museums and historic sites (www.arttrail.org).
