Dance Program benefits from 'Give Back Night'

Fri, 05/18/2012 - 12:54

Connecticut Dance Theatre (CDT) is partnering with Chili’s on Wednesday, June 13 to raise funds for CDT’s Scholarship Program for deserving children from the Greater Waterbury area. The fundraiser will occur from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Chili’s Restaurant located at 225, Union Street in Waterbury, Conn.

Supporters of CDT need to present an event voucher when dining at Chili’s on June 13 between the designated hours in order for CDT to receive 10 percent of the sales (excluding tax and gratuity) from CDT guests. “Give Back Night” is a fundraiser offered by Chili’s as a way to give back to not-for-profit organizations in the community. By promoting the “Give Back Night” to friends, families, and supporters the sponsoring organization will receive 10 percent of the sales from diners who present the event voucher during designated hours.

About CDT:  With 20,000 square feet of studio and performance space, CDT invites potential students to stop by the studio to view classes in session before registering for one of its many day or evening classes. CDT’s current schedule includes dance and movement programs such as Dance Training, Dance Appreciation, and Integrated Movement (flexibility, balance and wellness). CDT also offers the following forms of instruction:

?Concentrated Program in Ballet and Music Theatre provides training to children and adults who want full-immersion in a core dance curriculum to pursue a career as a professional dancer.

?Dance Appreciation provides a wide range of ballet, jazz, and tap dance training for children and adults of all levels.

?Special senior programs designed specifically movement in a touch of all forms of dance, ballet, jazz, musical theatre dance, yoga, and a separate tap class.

?“Moving Well” exercise classes such as Zumba, yoga, and Nia for teens and adults. In early 2012 a special “Zumba Gold” geared for seniors will be added to the schedule of classes.

?Dance coaching for individuals or couples in preparation for weddings or ballroom dancing events. Participants are invited to bring music for ceremonial, cultural, or performance events, too.

Contact Donna Bonasera, director of CDT, at 203.573-0004 for more information about CDT’s class offering and/or to request vouchers for the Chili’s fundraiser.
