Miles for Smiles Fundraiser~Saturday, March 16th
Miles for Smiles, Inc. will be hosting their 3rd annual St. Patrick’s Charity Dinner at the Grand Oak Villa in Watertown on Saturday March 16, 2013 from 7-11pm. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door.

Public Hearing to Name New Career Academy
The Waterbury Board of Education’s Ad Hoc Committee on the Naming of School Facilities will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, March 18, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Waterbury Arts Magnet School, for the purpose of hearing public comment on the names being
considered for the new Waterbury Career Academy High School, scheduled to open for the 2013-2014 school year.
Alliance Francaise French Classes for Spring
The Alliance Francaise of Northwestern Connecticut (AFNWCT) will offer Beginning and Intermediate classes in French for adults, starting the week of March 25, 2013. Advanced lessons, lessons for children, and tutoring can also be arranged.
Classes for Beginners will be held in Southbury Tuesdays from 10:30am to 12pm; Intermediate classes will be held in Watertown Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Malcolm Baldrige Students visit NYSE

On February 19th, students from the newly named Malcolm Baldrige
School of Business at Post University visited the floor of the New
York Stock Exchange. Marketing, finance, business administration, and
management majors toured the trading floor and were afforded the
chance to speak directly to the market makers responsible for managing
spikes in the market. They were accompanied by Post University
Hartley Helps Secure Sandy Hook Relief Fund
State Senator Joan V. Hartley (D-Waterbury), Senate chair
of the legislature’s Public Safety and Security Committee, helped
secure unanimous passage of Emergency Certified legislation creating
the Sandy Hook Workers Assistance Fund to help those directly and most
severely impacted by events in Newtown last December 14th.
Senator Hartley said first responders, educators, and medical
personnel who were connected to the scene on December 14th and
