Donovan Wins 5th CD Convention
The Connecticut Democratic Party today at the 5th Congressional District convention overwhelmingly endorsed Speaker of the House Chris Donovan as the 5th Congressional District candidate for Congress in 2012. Donovan won the Democratic Party's endorsement by beating both of his competitors by more than 3-to-1; one of the largest margins in a contested convention in recent memory.

Dance Program benefits from 'Give Back Night'
Connecticut Dance Theatre (CDT) is partnering with Chili’s on Wednesday, June 13 to raise funds for CDT’s Scholarship Program for deserving children from the Greater Waterbury area. The fundraiser will occur from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Chili’s Restaurant located at 225, Union Street in Waterbury, Conn.
Coca-Cola Grant for Downtown Recycling
The City of Waterbury will get a boost to its recycling efforts this summer thanks to a significant grant made possible by The Coca-Cola Foundation. The City will receive twenty-four recycling bins designed specifically for placement outdoors in the downtown area.
Butler Led Passage of Antidiscrimination Bill
State Representative Larry B. Butler (D-Waterbury) led passage of a bill that would prohibit the eviction of an individual 62 years of age or older who is mentally disabled or family who has a member that is mentally disabled because the lease has expired. SB 94 affects housing complexes with five or more units, but it does not supersede current good cause eviction rules for evicting a tenant, it merely prohibits mental disability as the sole reason for that eviction.
