The man behind Mike's, chef and restaurateur Jay Hajj, a frequent guest on The Food Network with Waterbury roots, recounts his dramatic immigrant success story and the delicious recipes that have flavored his life in his new cookbook, “Beirut to Boston: Comfort Food Inspired by A Rags-to-Restaurants Story.”
Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, Connecticut’s iconic third-generation owned and operated pizzeria since 1925, is putting thefinishing touches on its new 3,400 square foot, 90-seat space located at 130 Reidville Drive in Waterbury, CT, directly off of I-84. Pepe’s highly anticipated opening is planned for April 17. This will be the 9th location in the Frank Pepe Restaurant Group.

Michal J. Riley, who led the state’s motor transport industry for 30 years, will be joining seven other trustees on the board of the Railroad Museum Of New England (RMNE), an all-volunteer non-profit organization. The RMNE is based at the historic, Thomaston Train Station built by the original Naugatuck Railroad in 1881.
The Spring Jazz Series continues with Vocalist Cheryl Bentyne, a member of Manhattan Transfer, on Friday April 21 at the Palace Theater Poli Club. The series is produced by New England Arts and Entertainment. Showtimes are 7:00 and 9:00 PM with the bar and doors opening at 6:15 PM.
The public is invited to attend a free, interactive six week Live Well Diabetes Workshop to learn new skills to help you take charge of your diabetes. The Live Well Diabetes workshop will be offered at Mount Olive Senior Center, 82-100 Pearl Street in Waterbury on Thursdays, April 27 – June 1, from 10am - 12:30 pm.
